Always Be Careful When Using Kanna

Combining Kanna with SSRIs or other serotonergic drugs can lead to serotonin syndrome, a potentially life-threatening condition caused by an excess of serotonin in the brain. Symptoms of serotonin syndrome include agitation, confusion, rapid heart rate, high blood pressure, dilated pupils, muscle rigidity, and in severe cases, seizures and unconsciousness. Common SSRIs such as fluoxetine (Prozac), sertraline (Zoloft), and citalopram (Celexa) pose significant risks when taken with Kanna. Other serotonergic drugs, including SNRIs like venlafaxine (Effexor), certain pain medications like tramadol, migraine medications such as triptans, and supplements like St. John's Wort, also increase this risk. To prevent serotonin syndrome, it is generally advised not to combine Kanna with these medications without medical supervision.
